I was commissioned to create a series of paintings for Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach, Oregon.   This work is on display in the lobby and in each guest room. The work from this commission can be viewed in the above slideshow.

The Commission Process:

Working on commissions is always fun for me because the painting is personal and I have a specific space in mind for the work.

I like to visit a client’s home to get an idea of the wall space, the room and the general feel of the home.  In addition to discussing ideas with the client about theme and subject matter, I consider decor and style preference when creating a painting.  If a home visit is not an option, I request that a client provide several photos of the room the painting will be in and the adjoining rooms.

I start out by producing 1-3 drawings of the ideas we have previously discusses. The client then chooses their favorite, signs and dates the back and we finalize the colors and size of the art piece.  It is important to keep everyone happy and stay on the same page with the client. In other words, no surprises.  At this time I will be able to provide a price and once payment is received I will begin painting.  I will then also be able to provide a time frame for the completion of the commission piece.
